ARTHUR BASSETT KILLED: CRASH AT ROAD CROSSING

One of the two persons killed in an automobile collision around intersection near Kokomo Friday evening and in which seven other persons were injured, was a former Alexandria resident, it was learned here over the weekend. He was Arthur Bassett, 62, who lived here several years ago, and he died of a skull fracture shortly after being taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kokomo.
Mr. Bassett, at the time of the accident, was riding with the family of his son, Russell Bassett, of Toledo. They had been to a cemetery near Kokomo to erect a family monument, while Russell and his family were visiting at Kokomo, and were on their way to the home of Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Bassett.
The other car was driven by John Davis 44, Forest, a small town near Kokomo, who was accompanied by several of his fellow workers at the plant of the Haynes Stellite Co., in Kokomo. Davis also died a few moments after the accident, and some of the injured, including, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Bassett and their daughter Wanita, 20, were seriously hurt.
Both cars were said to have been traveling at a high rate of speed and were completely demolished. A woods and a cornfield obscured the view at the crossing.
Mr. Bassett's funeral was held at Kokomo this afternoon and was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Bassett, of this city, and the former being a nephew of the dead man. Other surviving relatives include Mrs. Minnie Bassett, three daughters, Mrs. madge Ellin, Mrs. Dulcinea Miller and Madeline Purvey, all of Kokomo; three sons, Kenneth and Eugene, of Kokomo, and Russell of Toledo, and several grandchildren.
