Kokomo Daily Tribune - Wednesday, September 28, 1898:

At the residence of her daughter, Mrs. B. F. Learner, four miles east of Kokomo, Friday morning, September 23, 1898, Mrs. Rachel Adamson died, aged 82 years. Mrs. Adamson was born in Highland County, Ohio on December 25, 1816. She removed to Howard County in an early day when this county was a comparative wilderness. She was a Christian woman all her life, and very fond of the society of young people, and by her Christian counsel has pointed many of them to a better life. She was a lover of the Bible and lived very near the cross. Truly we can say a mother in Israel is gone.

The funeral service was held at Salem U.B. Church on Sunday, September 25, 1898. She leaves two sons and two daughters to mourn the loss of mother--Mrs. Frank Learner and Fred Adamson of this county, and E. R. Adamson and Mrs. Seth Beals of Rogers, Arkansas. Her husband, two sons, and two daughters preceded her.

A noble life she lived, a mobile death she died, the end being peaceful and sweet. Her last days were days of waiting and triumph and her enduring spirit was a moral in inspiration to all. Today she sings the song of the redeemed, and as she many a time stood in the open door of her home to welcome her children, today she stands in the portals of eternal glory where she will be looking and watching for her children to come. A saintly mother is gone, whom we bid farewell until the day of our triumph when we shall meet again.
