DEATH OF MRS. PATTERSON.

Mrs. Ann Maria Patterson, widow of Dr. John C. Patterson, died at her home in South Livonia Sunday at midnight in the 78th year of her age, after an illness of about a year. She was born at South Livonia, and, excepting a short time in Portage and Conesus, had always lived there. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. J. C. Reed and Mrs. James N. Chamberlin, three brothers, Barstow, Beebe and Victor McDonald, and three sisters, Mrs. Townsend, Mrs. Hart and Mrs. Wheeler. The funeral was held from the house Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Patterson united with the South Livonia Baptist church when a child, and bad been, so long as her health permitted, one of its most consistent, faithful and active members. Her love for her church was second only to her love for her home and family, and her influence in its work was felt even after failing strength prevented her from going there to worship. Mrs. Patterson's health had been such that her recovery was not expected, and yet when death came her family was hardly prepared for it. She was a woman of lovely character, and her life ever since childhood had been devoted to smoothing out the rough places in others' paths and bringing happiness into others' hearts. A wonderfully beautiful life, with its thoughtfulness and tenderness, has closed, and the community, as well as her family, mourns. "And her peace is as the peace of the sky at eventide, when the winds sleep and the voice of the sea is hushed."
