Philip Dwyer III was born in Schuyler Falls, NY and died in Bristol, VT. He was enlisted as a Private into Co. G, 14th Vermont Infantry on Oct. 21, 1862 and discharged on July 30, 1863. He was re-enlisted as a Private into Co. B, 9th Vermont Infantry on January 13, 1864 and discharged on December 26, 1865. He was a farmer.
Additional info from Rick57; As his service in 14th Vermont Infantry, he combatted at the Battle of Gettysburg. As his service in 9th Vermont Infantry, he combatted at the Battles of Newport Barracks (NC), Chaffin's Farm (VA), Fair Oaks (VA) and Richmond (VA).

Friday, April 17, 1931. Philip Dwire, one of the two remaining Civil War Veterans, died at his home on West street Friday, at the age of 86, after a long period of ill health. Mr. Dwire served for three years and seven days during the war of the Rebellion in Company B, 14th Vermont Regiment. Mr. Dwire is survived by 10 children, Charles and Henry Dwire of Huntington, Mrs. Ezra Lafayette, Mrs. John Brewster and William Dwire of Rutland, Nelson Dwire of Brandon, Leon Dwire of Leicester, Mrs. Andrew Hallock and James Dwire of Starksboro, and Joseph Dwire, of Bristol, 43 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at St. Ambrose church Monday morning at 10 o'clock, Father Dame officiating. Burial was beside his wife in Greenwood cemetery.
