Funeral services for Joseph Kuchynka, 75, and his wife Mary Kuchynka, 80, were held Wednesday, Janaury 27 at Mahnomen. Mrs. Kuchynka died early Friday evening, January 22 at the Rodwell Rest Home, and Mr. Kuchynka was found dead at his home in Wauben by relatives who came to notify him of his wife's death.
Mrs. Kuchynka, a resident of Mahnomen County for the past 64 years, had been ill for two years. She was born at St. Paul, June 3, 1873 and was married to Joseph Kuchynka on June 7, 1948.
Mr. Kuchynka was born March 11, 1878, in Czechoslovkia. He came with his parents to the United States as a boy. He was married to his first wife, Mary Brabec, while at Ebro in 1934. She died in 1945 and was buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery at Bagley.
Survivors include eight daughters, four sons, a sister and a brother, 56 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.∼Funeral services for Joseph Kuchynka, 75, and his wife, Mrs. Mary Kuchynka, 80, were held Wednesday, January 27. Mrs. Kuchynka, a resident of Mahnomen County for the past 64 years, had been in ill health for two years and had been a resident at the rest home for the past two months. She was born June 3, 1873 in Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Sharbono. (Note: The obituary is incorrect. Mary was born in Minnesota.) She was married to Joseph Kuchynka, June 7, 1948. Survivors include Alfred Santwire, Mahnomen, an adopted son, and two granddaughters and three grandsons. Three brothers, Frank Sharbono, Mahnomen; Israel Sharbono, Bejou; William, Albuquerque, N. M.; and three sisters, Mrs. Tony (Agnes) LaFriniere, Colermaine; Mrs. Margaret Moen. Minneapolis, and Mrs. William Bement, Waubun, also survive.
Rosary was recited at the Rockwog Funeral Chapel Tuesday evening, with services held Wednesday at St. Ann's church, Waubun, with Fr. Denis Parnell, OSB, officiating. The body was vaulted until spring interment at St. Ann's Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ernest Young, James Hannon, Frank Hanson, Gerhard Kersting, Sr., Joseph Sullivan and Timothy Sullivan. Ten brothers and sisters preceded Mrs. Kuchynka in death.

Mr. Kuchynka was born March 11, 1878, in Czechoslovakia, and he came to the United States with his parents as a boy. The family settled in southern Minnesota.
He was married to Antonia Benesh, in 1900 at Lowry, Minn. They made their home there for a short time and then moved to the Waubun vicinity. Mr. Kuchynka has made his home there, farming until his retirement in 1940, when he moved to Waubun.
His first wife died in May, 19 1931, and he was married to Mrs., Mary Santwire, June 7, 1948. Survivors include eight daughters, four sons, a sister and a brother, 56 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Daughters surviving are Mrs. Michael (Mary) Saign, Mrs. Chas. (Christoria) Trebesch and Mrs. August (Helen) Trebesch, Mahnomen; Mrs. Alfred (Elizabeth) Murray and Mrs. Adolph (Rose) Nelson, Minneapolis; Mrs. Wilbert (Clara) Starkey, Waubun: Mrs. Reinhold (Lillian) Trebesh, Moorhead; Mrs. Roy (Della) Nelson, Litchfield, and Mrs, Louis (Agnes) Barrick, Glencoe.
Surviving sons are Joseph W. Kuchynka, Waubun; James F., Westport, Ore.; David, Billings, Mont., and Henry, Miles City, Mont. A sister in Czechoslovakia and a brother, August Kuchynka, Lidgerwood, N. Dak., also survive. A daughter, Mrs. Henry (Antonia) Chan, preceded him in death in November, 1952.
Services for Mr. Kuchynka were held Wednesday afternoon from the Congregational church, Waubun, with Rev. J. W. Stedman officiating. The body was vaulted until spring burial at Riverside Cemetery, Mahnomen.
Pallbearers were Wenzel Zaviska, Harry Johnson, Frank Mislivec, Tim Sullivan, Donald McDonald and Hafton Peterson. The Rockwog Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.
