Geraldine Day
Mrs. Geraldine DAY, 58, 1125 Madison street, died this afternoon at 12:30 o'clock at Woodlawn hospital after a two-year illness. She had been a patient in the hospital since Saturday noon.
Born Sept. 24, 1900, in Walton, Ind., she had resided in Rochester since 1938, coming here from Wabash. She was married March 27, 1921, in Okmulgee, Okla., to Harold M. DAY, who died April 5, 1951. Mrs. Day's parents were the Rev. E. Channing and Martha A. COON DUNN.
Mrs. Day was owner of Day's Food Market, 714 East Ninth street, which she and her husband established.
She was a member of the Methodist church and formerly belonged to the Tri Kappa sorority and Eastern Star lodge.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. James (Martha) WALTON, rochester, and Mrs. Dean M. (Jerry Lee) DAVIS, Fort Wayne; one sister, Mrs. George (Mildred) HUMPHREY, Rochester; and four grandchildren, Christopher WALTON; Gregory Scott DAVIS, Stephen B. DAVIS and Cynthia K. DAVIS.
Last rites will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Zimmerman Brothrs funeral home with Dr. Claude YOUNG officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Tuesday.
