Ora was found dead in the yard by his grandchildren. His death was ruled to be from a heart attack that he suffered while he was repairing a fence at his home. He was a member of the carpenters union, the McCutchanville Methodist Church, and formerly a sexton for the McCutchanville Cemetery. He was survived by his (second) wife, Goldie; 2 daughters; a sister; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
