Birthdays are like stepping stones
Along life's winding hill
Special little vantage points
To pause and just stand still.

To look back over other times
Recall the bygone years
Reliving all the memories
The smiles, the joy, the tears.

Then to leave pasts backward view
And start to climb once more
With faith that years ahead will be
As full as those before.
