George Winzenburg, officiating. A Rosary Service will be held 7:00 pm on Friday evening at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church with sharing of memories following. Gary James Fritz was a man whom everyone loved. He was a beautiful person inside and out. He lost his parents at a young age so his family was of utmost importance to him and cherished his time with his children and grandchildren.

He was born January 8, 1944 in Mobridge, SD to Alvin and Elizabeth (Holzer) Fritz. With his dad away serving in the military, Gary and his mother lived with his Grandma and Grandpa Fritz west of Trail City.
When his father returned from the service, Gary moved with his parents into Trail City along with his brother Dennis and his sister Peggy and attended grade school there. They lived in Trail City until they lost their mother at age 31 from a brain tumor.
Gary was 11 years old. Upon his mother's death, Gary went to live with his Uncle Art Fritz at Mobridge, since his dad was employed with the Milwaukee Railroad and traveled. His brother Dennis went to live with their Uncle Ed Fritz and family at Trail City. His sister Peggy lived with their Grandpa and Grandma Fritz in Mobridge.
The boys were soon reunited and lived with their dad in Trail City until their house burned to the ground. They moved to Timber Lake and Gary attended school for half of a year at Timber Lake until they moved to Walker, SD, where Gary and his brother Dennis attended high school at McIntosh.
From Walker they moved into McIntosh where Gary has lived ever since. One of his high school highlights was playing with his fellow team mates in the championship game in the 1962 Boys State Basketball Tournament in Sioux Falls, SD.

Gary became engaged to his high school sweetheart, Rose Mary Maher, on the night of their high school graduation in 1963 and he asked her to marry him. They were married on June 27th, 1964 in Morristown, SD. To this union four children were born; one son Derry and three daughters, Kerry, Doreen and Tanya.
Following his high school graduation, Gary worked for the Umber Construction Co. He also officiated at basketball games for a number of years. He quit refereeing to watch his children play and excel in sports.
He purchased the Amoco Oil Business from Quentin Heid in 1971 and sold it to the McIntosh Coop, Inc. in 2001. In addition to operating the gas business, he drove bus for the McIntosh School District from 1980-2009, which he looked forward to doing each day. He was a Council Member for the City of McIntosh for 40 years.

Gary had to start kidney dialysis in April, 2009 and had to make this trip three times a week. Due to the dialysis the family had to change their 45th wedding anniversary plans in Custer State Park to a celebration at home with all 20 family members present.

Gary and Rose Mary share many wonderful memories with their 4 children, spouses, grandchildren, family and friends.

Keeping him in their fondest memories are his wife, Rose Mary; one son and daughter-in-law, Derry and Kelly Fritz and children Derek and Daniel, Billings, MT; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kerry and Bob Seurer and children Taylor, Nicole and Jadyn, Overland Parks, KS, Doreen and Marty Jung and children Chelsey and Jessica, Bismarck, ND, Tanya and Jim Seyer and children Halle, Hunter and Karsen, Spearfish, SD; one brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Gwen Fritz, Belle Fourche, SD; one sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Arthur Ten Broek, McIntosh, SD.
