Dennis Lyle Fritz was born February 24, 1945 in Mobridge. He was the son of Alvin and Elizabeth (Holzer) Fritz. Dennis had a difficult childhood as he lost his parents at a young age. As a result, Dennis always appreciated the simple things in life like a home-cooked meal and especially his family. With his father away serving in the military, Dennis and his mother lived with his grandpa and grandma Fritz west of Trail City SD. When his father returned from the service, Dennis moved with his parents into Trail City, along with his brother Gary(deceased)and his sister and attended grade school there. They lived in Trail City until they lost their mother at age 31 from a brain tumor. Upon her death, Dennis went to live with his uncle Ed Fritz at Trail City because his dad was employed by the railroad. His brother lived with their uncle Art Fritz at Mobridge, and his sister Petty lived in Mobridge with their grandpa and grandma Fritz. The boys eventually were reunited with their father in Trail City, until their house burned to the ground. Following that, they moved to Timber Lake and then Walker, and then McIntosh. Dennis attended school in McIntosh where one of his high school memories was helping his team win the 1962 Boys State Basketball Tournament.

In November of 1964, Dennis was united in marriage to Karren Sanow. To this marriage was born a daughter and a son. Following their marriage they lived in McIntosh, where Dennis worked at the grain elevator. Karren died suddenly, just four years after their marriage, in 1968. On September 18, 1970, Dennis was married to "G" at the St. Michael Catholic Church in Watauga SD. "G" was 19 years old and found herself with two kids to help raise with Dennis. They lived in Haynes North Dakota and moved to Chadron, Nebraska in 1976 where Dennis managed three grain elevators. In 1979 they moved to Belle Fourche where Dennis managed the Hubbard Milling Elevator, which became Dakota Mill and Grain. He retired in 2013. At the beginning of 2023, Dennis was forced to face some serious health challenges. Through it all he lived with faith and courage, never complained, and always kept his family number one. He was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church and was Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Dennis served many years with the K.C.'s and flipped many pancakes over those years at the many Biker Breakfasts they served each year. He also served on the Compassion Cupboard.

Dennis was an avid fisherman who also loved sports. He was a strong man who endured many things in life, and he was famous for his baked potatoes stuffed with onions. He loved his boat and camper, and tinkering in his garage was something he also enjoyed doing.

Dennis is survived by his wife; daughter and her husband; son and his wife; 5 grandchildren; sister; He is also survived by his extended family as well as all of "G"'s family.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Karren; brother, Gary; as well as extended family, Harry and Laverna Kittelson, Joe and Wally, and Karen and LaVonne.
