On April 23, 1913, she was united in marriage to Roy Neil Jenkins of Chester, Neb., at Belleville. To this union four children were born. Two sons and one daughter died in infancy. In December, 1931, a foster daughter, Vivian, became a welcome member of the family circle. They lived in the Chester community until 1934, when they moved into Chester and lived there with the exception of one year that was spent on Roy's parents' home place.
On June 2, 1924, Rena and Roy united with the Methodist church of Chester. Rena always enjoyed her Christian fellowship and she was always a willing and active worker in church activities until her health began to fail. She took great pleasure in her children and grandchildren. After a lingering illness of almost four years, she passed away January 29, 1954, at her home in Chester, at the age of 61 years, 2 months and 25 days. She was preceded in death by three children, her parents, two brothers and two sisters. She leaves to mourn her departure her faithful husband, Roy; two daughters, Opal Faye Eisenman of Munden and Vivian Heimsoth of Grand Island, Neb.; seven grandchildren, Ernest Roy, Ruth Ann, James Dwaine and Mary Lou Eisenman and Larry Lee, Garry Lynn and Carol Ann Heimsoth; two brothers, William A. and Bert W. Carpenter of Belleville; two sisters, Esta Masten of Hubbell, Neb., and Harriet Carpenter of Fairbury, Neb.; besides a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted in Chester Methodist church January 31 by the Rev. James K. Irwin. Burial was in the Chester cemetery.
