Meigs, Abel W2410, BLW #9406-160-55, CT Line. Soldier married Deborah Carter Dec. 16, 1795 at Killingworth (Clinton) in Middlesex County, CT.
He applied Aug. 2, 1832 in New Haven County, CT at age 67, residence listed as Guilford, CT at time of enlistment. He served as a sub for his father, Elias Meigs, and was born Jul. 19, 1765 in Guilford (now Madison), CT. He stated he lived "on the spot where he was born." His widow applied for pension Dec. 21, 1848 at Madison, New Haven, CT at age 81.
Abel died Aug. 19, 1842. His widow applied for BLW Apr. 9, 1855 with aff'dt provided by daughter, Rachel Pilgrim of Madison, on Oct. 18, 1849, stating her mother had lived with her since Dec. 1, 1847.
