Samuel Shade Bollinger died at 8:50 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 1947, in Shirleysburg after a short illness.

He ws born in Blacklog Valley on July 9, 1864, the son of Samuel and Isabelle (Gilliland) Bollinger. He married Louella Felmiee. His wife died in 1933.

Four children are surviving: Banks M. and Foster, both of Orbisonia R. D.; Mabel (Mrs. Hayes Walker), Shirleysburg; and Shade R., Wormleysburg. There are also eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Bollinger spent his entire life in the vicinity of Shirleysburg. He farmed in Blacklog Valley until the last few years. He spent last year at Beers Hotel in Mount Union.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Orbisonia.

The funeral service will be held in the Foster Bollinger home in Blacklog Valley at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Martin Scholten of the Church of the Brethren will officiate. Interment will be in Gilliland Cemetery, Blacklog Valley. Friends will be received at the Foster Bollinger home until the hour of service. Ott's funeral service.
