Donna Pearl Burrus, 87, passed away on Tuesday evening, Jan. 12, 1988, at the Cedar County Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

Pearl Burrus was born on Aug 6, 1890, the daughter of Nancy Jane and James Marion Barrit, of Cainsville, MO. She was the last member of a family of eight brothers and sisters.

In the year 1903, the family moved to Cedar County and on May 10, 1909, Pearl was married to John Thurmond Burrus. John and Pear enjoyed the many ups and downs of a marriage that lasted 50 years before John's death in June 1960 due to an automobile accident.

Pearl and John had six children. Ruby and Gerald passed away as small children and one son, Chester, died on Jan. 31, in an automobile accident.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law - Louise and Elmer Embry of Huntington Beach, CA, Annetta and Jim Miller of El Dorado Springs,and Violet and Carl Woodford
of El Dorado Springs, one daughter-in-law Susanne Burrus of El Dorado Springs seven grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; and many
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pearl's entire married life was spent on their farm in Cedar County. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who always placed her family foremost in her life. She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Missionary Baptist Church and was active in church until her health prevented her attendance.

Pearl was residing at the Community Care Center in El Dorado Springs at the time of her death. She enjoyed living at the Care Center and her many friends there.

Services were held on Friday afternoon, Jan. 15, at the Hackleman Chapel with Bro. Charles Boultinghouse officiating. Musical selections were provided by Delores
Kember and Wilma McKinley. Internment was in the Hazel Dell Cemetery under the direction of the Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Brian Livengood,
Brent Livengood, Fred Harris, John Burrus, Lonnie Janes and Terry Ray
