Billy "Bill" Trimmell, 89, of Neodesha, Kansas, died Friday, December 04, 2009, at the Wilson Medical Center-Reece Campus, Neodesha, Kansas.
He was born March 6, 1920, in Coyville, Kansas, the son of Milton Anslum and Stella Mae (Knox) Trimmell.
He graduated from both Coyville and Fall River High Schools in 1939.
He served as a PFC in the US Army Air Corps from October of 1942 until January of 1946.
On August 20, 1941, he was united in marriage to Margaret Lynam in Independence, Kansas. She survives at the home.
Mr. Trimmell had been a resident of Neodesha since 1960 and had been a resident of southeast Kansas all his life. He had served as mayor of Neodesha in the early 1980's. He also was a rancher, a fireman, and the owner and operator of Trimmell LP Gas and Trimmell Rock Service.
He was a member of the Anti-Horse Thief Association, the American Legion in Chanute, KS, and the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Joe Allen Trimmell of Wichita, KS, and Max L. Trimmell of Neodesha, KS; two daughters, Sharon Merryman of Neodesha, KS, and Diane Holmquist of Osage Beach, MO; three sisters; five grandchildren, Tyson Holmquist, Angela Passantino, Wendy Riley, Joshua Trimmell, and Michael Trimmell; and one great-grandchild, Evanne Riley.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Dale, Victor, and Luther; and three sisters, Joyce, Lucille and Bonnie.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 7, 2009, at Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel, Neodesha, KS. Rev. Dave Cheshier will officiate. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church and may be left at the funeral home.
