Funeral services were held at Lower Whorton last Sunday for Ernest Jones, 62, who died in his home at Muskogee, Okla., on Wednesday, November 11. He died suddenly in his sleep of a heart attack.
The deceased was born July 30, 1891 in Newton County near Jasper, the son of Albert and Melissa Jones. He was married to Ada Bolinger Taylor and to this union was born four sons. They moved their family to Oklahoma about 20 or 25 years ago where Mrs. Jones passed away in 1941. Mr. Jones was a member of the Church of God since 1910.
Survivors are three sons, Raymond M. Jones of Muskogee, Okla., Harold E. Jones, Fort Smith; and Donald D. Jones, Anchorage, Alaska; (One son, Arthur Wayne Jones preceded him in death) one stepson, Osborn Taylor of Boynton, Okla., seven grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Dima Bolinger and Mrs. Kate Dotson of Huntsville, Mrs. Tennie Dotson of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Maude Girdner of Tahlequah and Mrs. Stella Wilson of Texico, New Mexico and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were conducted by Rev. Cecil Garrison of Huntsville and Rev. Paul Watson of Fayetteville, at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Lower Whorton church house. Burial was in the Whorton Creek cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ewell Dotson, Noah Dotson, Artie Rainey, Orba Youngblood, Howard Bolinger, and Elton Sparks.
