Final services for Dr. Plato Durham

Warrenton, N. C., February 12 - AP - Funeral services for Dr. Plato Durham were held here this afternoon from the Warrenton Methodist Church, Rev. J. R. Martin, pastor, officiating. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery in the Cole plot, where the bodies of the parents of Mrs. Durham are buried. Dr. Durham, widely-known orator and professor of church history at Emory University, died suddenly at his home in Atlanta, Georgia.

A native of North Carolina, Dr. Durham was one of the founders of the Candler School of Theology at Emory. From 1914 until a few years ago, when his health forced him to give up the executive position, Dr. Durham was its dean.

Dr. Durham was born in Shelby, N. C., Sept. 9, 1873. Surviving Dr. Durham are his wife, formerly Miss Lucy Cole, Raleigh, N. C.; his daughter, Lucy Cole Durham; three brothers, Stonewall and Robert L. Durham, and Wright T. Dixon; a sister, Mrs. W. L. Balthis, Gastonia, N. C.; and his mother, Mrs. B. F. Dixon.
