Like his father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Manual Henry Cook was an iron master and, in his time in history, in the steel trade. His father, Robert S. Cook, moved to Blount Co. Alabama in the early 1880's for his work in the iron/steel industry. Due to his expertise, Manual and his wife, Alda Lorine Johnsey Cook, moved their family to Atlanta around 1939-1940 where Manual was a key employee and union facilitator for Atlantic Steel. Manual and Lorine had 10 living children and were very involved in the lives of their many grandchildren.
