The (Oil City, PA) DERRICK, October 30, 1959

JOSEPH ANDREW SHREFFLER, 85, of Salem Township, Emlenton RD 1, died Friday morning in his home, following a lingering illness. Mr. Shreffler, an oil well driller most of his adult life, was born in Cranberry Township July 9, 1874 , the son of Joseph and Ellen Platt Shreffler. He spent his boyhood in the Nickleville area. He worked in the oil fields of western Pennsylvania and Oklahoma most of his life. Mr. Shreffler was married on February 2, 1898 to Florence Hulsizer, who survives. He is a member of the Richland Presbyterian Church. In addition to his widow he is survived by five daughters and four sons, as follows: Mrs. Harry (Goldie) Dalrymple, Oil City ; Mrs. Albert (Kathryn) Hayes, Erie ; Mrs. William (Dorothy) Fink, Baltimore , MD ; Mrs. Lester (Jessie) Hoffman, Clintonville; Mrs. William (Florence) Orr, Moran, MI; Theodore and Daniel Shreffler, Seneca; Wayne Shreffler, Oil City and Dale Shreffler, Emlenton RD 1, with whom Mr. Shreffler made his home. Also surviving are 39 grandchildren and 69 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Nora McCormick, Bartlesville, OK; Mrs. Grace Bly, Nicklesville; Mrs. Vella Burkholder, Clearfield and Mrs. Zina Dittman, Fort Stockton, TX; and a brother, Samuel Shreffler, of Nickleville. Friends will be received at the William Rupert Funeral Home, Zion Church Road , where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday by Rev. T.D. Imbrie, pastor of the Emlenton Presbyterian Church, assisted by Rev. Elmer Reagleof the West Home Free Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Richland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
