Funeral services for Mrs. Sturgis will be held 2:00 PM Monday, March 5, 2018 at Catawba Baptist Church, burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:45 pm in the church sanctuary and other times at the home of her daughter and son-n-law, Kay and Dennis Merrell.
She was a homemaker, loving mother and wife who enjoyed working in her garden and flowers. She was a lifetime member of Catawba Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, a member of the WMU, and most recently a member of the Senior Ladies Sunday School class.
Survivors include her sons Al H. Sturgis III and wife Sheila of Kershaw, SC, Ray Sturgis and wife Louise of Rock Hill; daughter Kay S. Merrell and husband Dennis of Rock Hill; seven grandchildren and fifthteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Al H. Sturgis, Jr. and her daughter Sharon D. Sturgis.
