Born in Decatur, Ala., on Feb. 7, 1905, she was the daughter of Nettie and Decatur Waddell.
Prior to moving to Oak Ridge in 1944, Mrs. Sharp lived in several states where her husband, Richard H. Sharp, was employed by the Tennessee Valley Authority. He retired from Union Carbide Nuclear Division in 1972. They had been married for more than 70 years before his death in 1993.
Mrs. Sharp was described by her family as a devoted homemaker who loved to be surrounded by family and friends. Several generations of friends, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter knew her as "Mama Sharp."
She had been a member of First Baptist Church in Oak Ridge since 1944.
She is survived by her son, O.H. Sharp and his wife, Jo, of Oak Ridge; her daughters, Faye McNabb of Oak Ridge, Dot Hunter of Nashville and Olene Rhoades of Harbor Bluffs, Fla.; five grandchildren, Mitzi Thomas and Mindy McNabb, both of Oak Ridge, Betty Wallace of Knoxville, Vicki Askew of Brentwood and Richard Hunter of Shaker Heights, Ohio; and seven great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Sharp was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 30, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Derrick Hamby officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 1, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Mrs. Sharp's grandsons: Richard Hunter, George Hunter, Larry Wallace, Derek Wallace, Hughie Thomas and Fred Askew. Honorary pallbearers are Bob McNabb, Hope and Tommy McWhorter, Bill and Rae Musick, Arlene Ziegler, Mary Dowdy and her caregivers, Shirley, Emma and Mary.
The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to a charity of the donor's choice.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary.
