Cedar Valley Daily Times, Tuesday, 10/25/1966-Vernon Glenn Dowler, 60, died suddenly Monday evening at Virginia Gay hospital where he had been taken earlier in the day.
He was born April 25, 1906, at Vinton, a son of Lewis and Elizabeth Carter Dowler, and married Helen Maynard at Des Moines on May 31, 1935. He was a member of the Typographical Union and worked as a linotype operator for the Cedar Valley Daily Times and the Cedar Rapids Gazette for many years. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of George G. Luckey Post No 57 of the American Legion in Vinton.
Surviving are his widow and two sisters, Mrs. Cecile James and Mrs. Marie Fristoe of Vinton. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Fry & Holland funeral home with Rev. James D. Sawyer officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery…
