David Denzil Swanson was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Married Patricia Swanson in 1968. Graduated from Granite High School, where he was a star basketball player. He served in the Air Force during World War II and in Korea. After returning from Korea, he worked for twenty-six years as a Civil Engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad.


His passions were family, golf, and woodworking. He spent time winning bowling tournaments with his first born Rae, caught trophy fish with Dave, taught Karen the goodness of slowing down and taking time to hold hands and made a craftsman carpenter out of Teri.


He is survived by wife Pat; children Glenda Rae Stroud, Dave (Deanna) Swanson, Karen (Mark) Jackson, Teri (Paul) Ross; grandchildren Shane Stroud, Jeremiah (Gina and their daughter Miriam) Ross, Jayson (Vanessa) Ross, Eryn Swanson, Lance (Johanna) Swanson, Nicole (Carlos) Navarette; sister Arlene (Ralph) Jackson.


Private services will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, Sandy, UT.
