Alvin Fletcher Sooter, 63, of the Ulman community, died Friday at his home. A farmer, Mr. Sooter had been a lifelong resident of the community,
He was born October 24, 1899. On July 20, 1918, he married Ella Mae Abbett. They were the parents of three children.
Mr. Sooter was a member of the Mt. Zion Christian Church near Tuscumbia.
Surviving are his wife of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Reba Martin of Ulman; two sons, Ercil Sooter of Ulman and Gene Sooter of Independence; three sisters; Mrs. Christina Jarrett, Barnett; Mrs. Ialeen Scott, Jefferson City, and Mrs. Kathryn Swim of Jefferson City; a brother, Bryce Fischer of Tuscumbia; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm at Mt. Zion Christian Church with the Rev. Mark Sooter officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of the Hedges Funeral Home of Brumley.
Pallbearers were Jim Patterson, Wassie Witt, Jim Swim, Jack Edwards, Ernest Abbett and Rhey Scott.
