James W. "Jim" Barnhart, 61, Eldon, died Saturday at Capital Region Medical Center-Southwest. He was born Feb. 19, 1936, in Pond, a son of Mark T. and Florence M. Crider Barnhart. He was married May 12, 1959, in Tuscumbia, to Dorothy McDowell, who survives at the home.

He was employed with Griffin Wheel in Kansas City, Kan., for 31 years and with Fasco in Eldon for six years before becoming disabled and retiring. He was a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church.

Other survivors include: one son, James Robert Barnhart, Spring Hill, Kan.; one daughter, Karen Atwell, De Soto, Kan.; seven brothers, Leo Barnhart, Larry Barnhart, Ed Barnhart and Iva Barnhart, all of Eldon, Ray Barnhart, Pacific, Donald Barnhart, Kansas City, and Mark Barnhart, Tuscumbia; two sisters, Rosalie Hendry, Wappappello, and Etta Barnhouse, Eldon; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. Bros. Jay Quinn and Ken Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Tuscumbia. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday.
