Born in New Washington June 2, 1915 to the late John and Estella (Mauch) Wechter, he had been a Plymouth area resident the majority of his life. Mr. Wechter was formerly employed with Bob's Cafe in Plymouth, retiring in 1978. He was a former member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in New Washington and of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby. Mr. Wechter was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific Theater and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife Doris Wechter whom he wed on July 10, 1968; one stepdaughter Harold Chumbley, Jr. of Mansfield; three step-grandchildren; one step-great granddaughter; one sister Mrs. Ruth (Wechter) Hazelwood of Painesville, Ohio; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert & Richard Wechter.
