Danny was born in Williamson County, Tennessee. He was the youngest son of 12 children (8 boys and 4 girls) born to Jesse Washington Martin and Grace Christine Marlin Martin

Danny was an SP5 in the US Army during the Vietnam War and died in Khanh Hoa, South Vietnam at age 21

A bridge in the Burwood community was dedicated as the "Danny Gale Martin Memorial Bridge" on June 30 in honor of a Vietnam War veteran killed in combat who grew up near the bridge.
U.S. Army Specialist 5 Danny G. Martin was 21 and on his second tour of duty in Vietnam when he was killed in action on Dec. 1, 1969.
Pictured from left to right.
Tennessee State Senator Jack Johnson, Judy King, who wrote the poem "The Wall" for Danny after seeing his name on the Vietnam Wall Memorial, Rep. Glen Casada and Sharon Anglin Martin Potts, who was Danny's wife when he was killed.
