Henry Cloninger was born in 1810 in North Carolina According to the Census of 1860 In Oakland Yalabusha County Mississippi. The census shows him to be 50 years old in 1860. Henry is the son of John Cloninger of North Carolina and grandson of Michael Cloninger of North Carolina. Michael and his brother Adam Cloninger were pioneer sons of Phillip Kloninger who came over from Germany in 1747. Henry married Susanna Bolch July 24, 1836 in Lincoln County North Carolina. Henry and Susan had five children in North Carolina, Jermima 1837, Susan 1838, Manerva 1843, Pinkney L., 1846 Margaret Dove 1847. The family moved to Oakland Mississippi and had the following Children, Joseph Lawshu, 1849, Dolly Josephine 1850, Mary Jane 1877.Henry purchased land in 1859 from Henry J. Goforth for $500.00 known as The as the North West quarter of section nine township eleven of Range three west of the Bassis Meridian of the Chickasaw Section.This land is located in the North west corner of Yalabusha County near Water Valley Mississippi bordering Calhoun County, 150 Acres. The next time I saw Henry's name is on a land deed in 1875. His children Pinkney, Joseph and Margaret, Selling some land from the estate of Henry Cloninger to Robert Moorehead.The land appears to have been sold for $60.00,$ 20.00 per share per child. His other five children are not listed. This is the same 150 acres purchased by Henry in 1859 for $500.00 The deed states Henry Cloninger to be deceased as of November 13, 1875.
