Isaac set off for the west and in 1831 married Eliza Sarah McRae Futch, from North Carolina, in Greene County, Mississippi. The late genealogist John Wise has suggested that Sarah and Isaac lived in Mississippi until her death at age 35 on August 1, 1840. Isaac then moved on to Tyler County, Texas with their son, Isaac G. Futch, Sr.
Researcher Katrina Mitchell Piper, after examining census records, however, suggests a different version of the story of Sarah and Isaac. The 1850 Greene County, Mississippi census shows Isaac and Sarah with the first nine of their ten children living in Greene County: Matilda Futch, Isaac G. Futch, Sr., Elizabeth Jane Futch, Hariet Futch, Mary Futch, George Washington Futch, Angelina C. Futch, Cornelius Futch, and Emma Futch. The 1860 Tyler County, Texas census shows Isaac and Sarah and their sons Cornelius Futch and John McRae Futch.
Isaac died at age 58 on January 16, 1863 in Woodville, Tyler County and is buried in the Futch Family Cemetery in Chester, Tyler County.
Thanks so much to all the Futch family genealogists for much of this information, especially to John Wise, Alfred Chassereau, and Katrina Mitchell Piper, and to C. T. Lewis who created this site. Thanks to Stacy Mills Gore for the cemetery photos. Any errors, however, are mine alone. Please go to the "edit" link on this site with any corrections or additions.
