GROVE, Okla. – Harold Dale Leap, 84, of Grove, Okla., died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Integris Grove General Hospital in Grove.
He was born March 13, 1923, in Shidler, Okla., to Harold and Minnie (Clark) Leap. He graduated from Caldwell (Kansas) High School in 1940 and later graduated from Pittsburg State University.
Mr. Leap served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He farmed in the Bartlett area before starting work as a special agent for the federal Drug Enforcement Administration. For three years he served on the House Select Committee on Assassinations, investigating the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr.
He married Ruth Horn in 1942. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Lynn Thornton of Arvada, Calif.; four sons, Michael Leap of Blue Springs, Mo., David Leap of Caney, Mark Leap of Grain Valley, Mo., and Tom Leap of Independence, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jeffery.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. at Lake Creek Cemetery at Bartlett.
