When she was 6 years old her family moved from Parkston, SD to a farm near Salem, OR. In 1897 the family moved to WA and settled northwest of Odessa, where they farmed for many years before retiring. She was a member of the Baptist Church for 65 years, joining the North Baptist church in May, 1904. Her and her husband Edward farmed in the Marlin area until they retired in 1949. She was preceded in death by daughter, Alice Kehrer, whose son Elton Edward "Nubby" Kehrer was raised by Tonia and Edward.
