When he was eight years of age he moved to the Salem, OR area with his parents and family, where they were raised. In 1898 he, along with his parents, five brothers and five sisters, moved to the Odessa area, where they were engaged in farming. He was baptized in May of 1927 on confession of his faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and became a faithful member of the Baptist Church, where he served in numerous capacities. He moved to the Odessa Convalescent Center in 1976. He was the eldest member of his family of five generations and the oldest senior citizen in the Odessa area. Survivors include 2 sons, 3 daughters, 2 brothers, 1 sister, 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
