Aged Local Resident Passes Away Here Saturday Afternoon.

Mrs. Mary Kramer mother of Mrs. Frank Wehlage passed away at her daughter's home in this city, at ten minutes to one, Saturday afternoon at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 26 days. She had been in failing health since March, 1935, being due to heart trouble. In January of this year she suffered another heart attack, since which time she has been confined to her bed almost continually, gradually growing weaker. Mrs. Kramer was born at Bawinkel Germany, September 8, 1850, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Brandmeyer. Her father died there and when she was nine years old her mother came to this country with her six children, settling in this vicinity. In May, 1869, the subject of this sketch was united in marriage to John Kramer. They first lived near Germantown and at Beaver Prairie a short time and about sixty years ago they moved to Breese, Mr. Kramer working on the section and later in the coal mines here. He died Aug. 17, 1903.

For the past 27 years Mrs. Kramer has been living with Mr. and Mrs. Wehlage who tenderly cared for her these many years. Mrs. Wehlage in the only near relative to survive. There was another daughter Mrs. Wm. Boenhoff, but she passed February 4, 1932. There are also ten grand children and eight great grandchildren. This aged lady found happiness in her advanced years by having the peace of mind and comfort in knowing she had led a life of Christian ways. She always belonged to the Catholic Church; where she worshipped regularly, and the devotion she showed, together with her kindness will always linger in fond memories of her. The funeral services were held in the St. Augustine's Church here at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning, Rev. Eckert officiating. Pallbearers were: Julius Coers, Ed Venhaus, Hy. Werth, Herm. Hinkamp, Albert Werth, and Anton Voss. Interment was in the St. Dominic Cemetery. -The Breese Journal, July 9, 1936
