Born June 4, 1916, in Williford, he was the son of William Baker and Laura Taylor Baker. He married Mabel Koenig Jan. 2, 1946, in Williford. He was a retiree of Armco Steel, working in Kansas City, Mo., for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during World War II. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sharon Shelton, and her husband, Fred, of Independence, Mo.; four nieces; and five nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry Baker; four brothers -- John Baker, Edward Baker, Homer Baker and Bernard Baker; and a sister, Edith Fountain.
The funeral was Jan. 14 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with the Rev. Floyd Rikard officiating. Burial was in Baker Cemetery at Hardy.
Pallbearers were Phil Howell, Bill Baker, Pete Rose, Jim Baker, Theo Case, Bob Baker and Bob Farrar.
