Obituary, Woodhead--
James Osborn Woodhead, son of James Allen Woodhead and Julia Ann (Ashley) Woodhead , was born on a farm east of Edgar, Nebr., April 11, 1878 and passed away Feb 13, 1957 aged 78 years, 10 months and 2 days,
Following his early education in the public schools he was married November 5, 1902 to Miss Kathryn Green and they begin farming on the home place. Later they moved to a farm southwest of Edgar from which they retired two years ago coming to live in Edgar.
Six children graced the union of Mr. and Mrs. Woodhead these being, Mrs. Vera McLaughlin of Ong, Mrs. Florence Fichtner, Earl Woodhead and Mrs. Myrna Jordan, all of Fort Collins, Colo.; Dale Woodhead and Mrs. Wanda Watts of Edgar.
In addition to his wife and six children, all of whom survive. Mr. Woodhead is survived by his step-mother, Mrs. Carrie Woodhead and a half-brother, Wm. Woodhead of Grand Island and a sister, Nellie of Twin Falls, Ida. Preceding him in death was a sister, Carrie, three brothers, Norm, Charles and Steven, the latter dying in infancy.
Fourteen grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren also mourn his passing.
He was a good neighbor and a kind and loving husband. In addition to the family already noted, he will be missed by many other relatives and a host of friends.
Services in charge of McGhie Funeral Home were conducted Saturday afternoon, Feb 16, in the Methodist Church in Edgar by the pastor, Rev. Harry Gleim. Mrs. Harold Beck and Mrs. Byron Kinnison sang "The Old Rugged Cross," and Pass Me Not, O Gentle Saviour, with Mrs. Robert Mikkelsen at the piano. flowers were cared for by Mrs. Dudley Harnett and Mrs. Robert Watts.
Casket bearers were Wardie Johnson, Willard Johnson, Clark Kinnison, Willard Sorenson, Ed Watson and Robert Watts.
Interment was in the Edgar Cemetery.
