Phillip Anderson was born Aug. 6, 1845 in Morristown, Hamblen county, Tenn. and died July 20, 1920 in Knoxville, Knox county, Tenn. while visiting relatives. His military gravestone shows that he served during the Civil War. He married Margery Scott on June 15, 1876, according to their license; however other records show her name as Margaline Yvonne Scott. The couple had seven children, Richard, Edd, Ida, Bessie, Frank, Jesse and Gladys Lorena, all of whom were born in Tenn. By 1895, the family had relocated to Peoria, Franklin county, Kansas, where he remained except for a short period prior to his death when he made his home with a married daughter in nearby Douglas county.
