RIVERSIDE EDWIN PALMER ECKLES Age 91, went peacefully to God in the morning of November 22, 2009 in Riverside, CA. Edwin was preceded in death by his wife, Mable; brother, Paul; sisters Pearl and Audrey; grandson, Ryan. He is survived by his brother, Frank; sisters, Edith, Betty and Violet; son, Ed (Sharon); daughters, Penny (Al) LeAlcala, Carol Smith and Sandra (Rusty) Tucker.; grandsons, Alfonso, Christian, Michaelangelo (LeAlcala), Mike, Paul, Sampson (Smith), Shane (Eckles) and granddaughters, Jackie (Dodge), Laura, Leah (LeAlcala), Ashley (Branson); 16 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Edwin's father sold his stagecoach business in Nebraska and moved to Chico, California where Edwin was born in 1918. Edwin served in the Navy, WWII in the Pacific and was present at the signing of the Japanese surrender. He married Mable Marie Dix in 1946 and raised his family in Whittier, CA, where he started out in the family businesses of the Whittier bussline, then opened his own business of Eckles Towing, Eckles Body Shop and later was well known as a commercial real estate developer. In 1967 he moved his family to Lake Arrowhead, CA and ran Ed Eckles Realty until he retired to Redlands, CA and moved in 1986 to be with his family in Riverside, CA.
