COOPER – Billy Earl Blount, 72, of Enloe passed away Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at Legend Healthcare & Rehab Center in Paris.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Delta Funeral Home Chapel with Ronald Barnett, LeRoy Reeves and Robert Douglas officiating. Interment follows in the Camp Shed Cemetery under the direction of Delta Funeral Home.
Family receives friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
He was born in Cooper, Nov. 4, 1937. He was the son of Leonard B. Blount and Gladys Lovelady Blount. His birth mother was Veta Towers Blount. He was retired from Retail Grocery Business as a manager, worked for Brookshires in Greenville and Commerce for 38 years. He had lived in Enloe since 1998 and was a member of Enloe VFD and Enloe Baptist Church, serving as Deacon. He served in the National Guard during the Cuban Crisis with the 49th Armored. He married Nancy Whitaker Jan. 26, 1968.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jackie Blount.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Blount of Enloe; brother, Donnie Blount and wife, Carol Blount, of Greenville; several nieces and nephews, Terrie D'Amico of Nashville, Tenn., Jeanie Pidgeon of Portland, Ore., Doneen Baggett and Rodney Blount of Greenville, Amanda Whitaker of San Diego, Calif., Kent Whitaker of Paris, Shannon and Stacie Blount of Cooper; along with several great-nieces and nephews; and six great-great-nephews.
