She was born to William and Eliza A. Milligan Redman, the oldest child of 7 known children.
April 1, 1868 she married Newton Crawford Westfall in Champaign County, Ohio. To this union 7 children were born, with 5 reaching adulthood.
She was the normal housewife of those days. Hard working. A year or two after her youngest daughter (Katie) was widowed, the daughter and her 4 chidren moved into the house next to them, that she bought, so they could help watch the children as she had to work (no kind of aid back then), that daughter also helped Newton and Mary Jane as the years caught up to them.
Later years of her life, Mary Jane was struck with Alzheimer's or some sort of dementia. Do not know for how any years, but they all had their hands full with her care. A Granddaugher remembered her Grandfather knocking on the window to wake her mother saying "Oh Katie, oh Katie come quick!", when he would come to get her for help in the night because Mary Jane was doing something strange. Was noted for ripping her aprons to bits. Not understanding such things back then, must of been hard on everyone especially Mary Jane.
Only child that lived not linked to them is their oldest daughter, Amy Anna Westfall Chase. (March 8, 1870 - September 1925)
