--Third of 7 children of James Sidney Bryan and wife Ella Pope. The family moved frequently due to her father's work as a Methodist minister.
--Susie received her A.B. degree from Wesleyan College, Macon, GA., finishing her degree in just 3 years. She received her Master's degree from Peabody.
--Occupation: Teacher and professor of Latin in various colleges and high schools in South Carolina, Texas, and Florida.
--Member of DAR and UDC. She was a real daughter of the Confederacy.
--Susie enjoyed genealogy, long before computers, and she copied many records by hand.
--She married William Silas Overstreet in the early 1930s. They lived in Mulberry, Florida. After she was widowed, she returned to the family home on W. Poplar Street in Griffin, GA, where 2 of her sisters lived.
