Wilson Fields was born on July 14, 1875, the son of Oliver W. and Jane Black Fields. A native of Springfield Township, Huntingdon County, he was educated in the public schools of that place, and later attended Rockhill Normal school. For a number of years he taught school.

Mr. Fields was twice married. In 1898 he was united in marriage to Mertie Jane Grissinger. They established their home in Robertsdale where he was employed in the office of the Rockhill Iron and Coal Company. A few years later Mr. and Mrs. Fields moved to Mount Union where he became office manager of the General Refractories Company.

The first Mrs. Fields passed away of January 21, 1910. In 1912 he was united in marriage to Lola Eberman of Mount Union the ceremony being performed at Chester by the Rev. Harvey Koehler of the Presbyterian Church, a former pastor of the bridge.

For a number of years after leaving the Refractories Company Mr. Fields was associated in business with Dr. J. M. Minick, at the corner of Division and Shirley Street, Mount Union.

Mr. Fields was the first superintendent of the Mount Union Manufacturing Company.

He was very active in the work of the Methodist Church and had been senior member of the official board for twenty-five years. He was a member of the Men’s Brotherhood Bible Class and of Mount Union Lodge No. 688, Free and Accepted Masons.

Mrs. Lola Fields survives as do three daughters: Mrs. Joseph F. Woods, Arlington, Va.; Mrs. Mildred Briglia, Philadelphia; and Lt. Vera M. Fields, now serving at Frankfort, Germany in the United States Army Nurse Corps. One grandchild also survives.

A Masonic service will be held at the late home at seven o’clock this evening. The funeral service will be held at two o’clock on Tuesday at the late home, the Rev. Edgar A. Henry, pastor of the Methodist Church, Mount Union, officiating. Interment will be made in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Mount Union by Clark, funeral director. Friends are being received at the Fields home.
