Alvesta Collins

Alvesta Collins, daughter of Aaron and Sarah Margaret (Johnson) Eason was born in the Jimtown Community, west of Queen City, Mo., on January 31, 1902. She passed away on Monday, May 21, 1990, at the Grim-Smith Hospital in Kirksville, Mo. She was eighty-eight years old.

On March 5, 1925 at Greentop, Mo., she was married to Birney O. Collins. He passed away on January 28, 1988.

Mr. Collins was in the teaching profession for forty-six years so the family moved several times. Most of their married life though was spent in the Lancaster vicinity.

Alvesta was a member of the Lancaster Garden Club and the Schuyler County Historical Society She was a member of the Lancaster Christian Church.

She was preceded in death besides her parents and husband by one sister, Lavanchia Eason and a brother Reverdy Eason and a sister, Mary Eason who died in infancy.

Surviving are: three sisters, Mrs. Frances George, Mrs. Gerald (Eileen) Graves and Mrs. Iona Ogan all of Lancaster; two brothers Nulty Eason and Lee Eason, both of Queen City, Mo.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 24, 1990, 1:30 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Chapel in Lancaster with the Reverend Jim Oliphant officiating. Music was provided by organist, Maureen Watkins and Kathy Wheeler and Lucille Dabney. Special selections were "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and "It Is Well With My Soul."

Pallbearers were Ronnie Long, Gary Roberts, Edwin Lasley, Edson Tallman, Floyd Manning and Willie Beeler. Interment was in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster.
