Son of Leroy and Mary Elizabeth (Mayhew) GARTON.

Married to Alpha JENKINS on February 12, 1911.

OBITUARY

Wilce V. GARTON was born in Jefferson County,Kansas and lived with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Roy GARTON until age 12, then moved to Coffey county two years, removing from there to Garber, Oklahoma, then to Beaver county, Oklahoma, in 1906.

He was married in 1911, February 12, to Miss Alpha JENKINS. They reared a family of eight children, seven of whom, together with his widow remain, one which died in babyhood.

He died at the Shattuck hospital on December 13, 1933.

Wilce was blessed with a good hope through grace. He exercised an experience that Jesus was his Savior in his early manhood and was received into fellowship of the West Union Church of the First Kansas Association held in Topeka, Kansas and was baptized by the Late Eld. A. D. Jones. He lived a true and orderly, consistent member until death. For many years he endured ill health; had undergone a serious operation for appendicitis when the death angel called him. He was a kind and loving husband, father, son and brother. He numbered his friends by his acquaintances. His life was an open book, of an even temper, a kind and gentle disposition. He bore his suffering with true Christian fortitude, never complaining and as the candle burned out he passed quietly and gently into the great love beyond, from whence none ever return.

Because of our great loss, we mourn for him, but we would not have him return if we could, because he has gone to the courts of Heaven to the arms of Jesus, his Savior, and the glorious presence of God, his Father. There to bask in the sunlight of an eternal love of God, sing hosanna to the King eternal. He leaves to mourn his loss, his sorrowing wife, his two sons, Melvin and Homer; five daughters, Nettie, Allie, Agatha, Verga and Thelma; his father and mother; two brothers, Willard and Ralph.

Eld. L. L. Schenck of Williamston, Kansas was called to speak upon the occasion of his funeral. The services were attended by a large crowd of sorrowing friends and relatives.
