Mrs. John J. (Marie) Chudej, age 85, of West passed away April 7, 1995, in a Waco hospital.

Rosary was recited April 9 in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 9 in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. Melvin Dornak as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, West.

Mrs. Chudej was born January 8, 1910, in Tours and had lived in the Tours-West area all of her life. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, the Altar Rosary Society, the K.J.Z.T. Society #11, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court #829, the Hill County League of Nurses and she was employed as an L.V.N. at West Rest Haven for a number of years. She married John J. Chudej on October 23, 1928 at West. He preceded her in death on February 28, 1990. She was also preceded in death by a son, Daniel Chudej, who died in December of 1990.

Mrs. Chudej was survived by one daughter, Darlene Krause of Tacoma, Washington; one daughter-in-law, Reba Chudej of West; two sisters, Louise Petter and Emily Nors both of West; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers were Albin Petter, John Petter, Edward Chudej, Johnny Chudej, Robert Nors, Thomas Nors, Edwin Nors, Gene Chudej and Kevin Chudej.

Kotch Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
