OBITUARY :
GEORGE HALTERMAN, CAIRO, DIES AT 77; FUNERAL AT SALEM

GEORGE A. HALTERMAN, Cairo, died at 9:45 o'clock Saturday night at Ellis Fischel Hospital in Columbia, where he had been a patient for 23 days. He was 77 years old.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church east of Jacksonville, by the pastor, the Rev. W. L. Swartz. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Halterman was a well known farmer in the community east of Cairo, and some years ago he operated a steam-powered threshing and wood-sawing outfit.

Born in Randolph county, he lived practically all his life east of Cairo and the last year in Cairo.

He is survived by his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Henry Rogers, Mrs. Ralph Switzer and Mrs. Everett Downing, all of Moberly, and Mrs. Leo Kamp and Mrs. Donley Hagood, Cairo; three sons, Joe H. Halterman, Cairo, Russell Halterman, Moberly, and Hartsell Halterman, Higbee; a brother, Ed Halterman, Moberly; four sisters, Mrs. Lula Bond and Mrs. Ida Way, Moberly, Mrs. Maggie Casey, Shattuck, Okla., and Mrs. C. H. Halliburton, Divine, Tex.

There are fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. One daughter died in infancy.
