Late Thursday the many friends of the family were shocked to hear of the death of Mrs. F. G. Baldwin, wife of the vice president of The Independent Publishing company, who had passed away at the General hospital. While Mrs. Baldwin had not been in good health for some years, and had more recently become convinced of the necessity of an operation, there had been no thought of such a serious condition as might result fatally. She underwent an operation in the morning. Her condition was thereby found to be more serious than even the physicians had anticipated. Severe shock resulted, and at 4:30 in the afternoon she passed away. It was thus that the announcement came so much more poignantly.

Mrs. Baldwin was born at David City, this state, 49 years ago on the 27th of last December. About 20 years ago, she was married to Fred C. Baldwin and has resided here constantly since that time. She was deeply devoted to her husband, to her family, and to her home, and gave to these her constant and almost exclusive attention. For many years she had been connected closely with the Ladies Aid Society of the English Lutheran church and only little over a year ago, together with her husband, joined the church by confirmation.

Besides the grief-stricken husband and three children--Mrs. Geo. Lewton, Mrs. Rudolph Kuester, and Frederick Baldwin, Jr., she leaves to mourn her loss the following sisters and brothers; Mrs. Carrie Leonard, of Montrose, S. D.; Dr. Roy Angel, of the same city; Leon, Ralph and Raymond Angel, of Delta, Colo., and Ed L. Angel, of Spencer, S. D., together with quite a number of nieces and nephews, all of whom have the sincerest sympathy of the many who knew the deceased and especially of those who knew her noble qualities and how greviously she will be missed.

The time of the funeral had not been fixed this afternoon. Frank Baldwin, brother of the bereaved husband, immediately left his home in California to be with his brother at this time, and the train upon which he was traveling had not been ascertained definitely. It will not take place before Sunday afternoon. Definite announcement will be made Saturday.
