Le Roy Angel, M.D.
Dr. Le Roy Angel, engaged in the practice of medicine and surgery at Montrose, was born at Moravia, Iowa on the 15th of April, 1884. His parents are Le Roy Scott and Louise (Pabst) Angel, both of whom are living in (Delta) Colorado, where the father is engaged in the real estate business. After enjoying the advantages afforded in the public schools Dr. Angel attended Fremont College of Nebraska, where he pursued a scientific course and also the pharmaceutical course, being graduated upon the completion of the former in 1904 and of the latter in 1905. He next entered the medical department of the Northwestern University at Chicago, where he pursued the regular four years course, and was graduated in June, 1910. He then had the benefit of two years' experience in Mercy Hospital at Chicago, where he put his theoretical knowledge to the practical test and gained that broad and varied experience which only hospital service can bring. Thus splendidly equipped for his chosen life work, he came to South Dakota in 1912 and opened his office in Montrose. Here he has met with a fair measure of success, gaining a goodly share of the public patronage. He belongs to the Sioux Valley Medical Association and he keeps in touch with the advanced thought of the profession through wide reading of medical journals and late publications.
On the 12th of June, 1912, Dr. Angel was united in marriage to Miss Irene McAuffle (McAuliffe), a daughter of James and Anna McAuffle of New York, and they have one son, James Lee. Dr. Angel is Presbyterian in religious faith, while his wife is a communicant of the Catholic church. His political support is given to the democratic party, but he has neither time nor inclination for office, preferring to concentrate his energies upon his professional duties and through close and undivided attention to his chosen life work he is making steady advancement and has already gained a measure of success that many an older practitioner might well envy.

Dr. L. R. Angel was born at Morovia, Ohio, on April 15, 1884. He came to So. Dak. in 1912 and opened his office in Montrose taking over Dr. Spencer and Dr. Gage's practice.
On June 12, 1912, Dr. Angel and Miss Irene McAulif were married while he was interning at Mercy Hospital in Chicago. They had one son, James, and daughter, Verda. Mrs. Angel passed away at an early age and Mrs. Carrie (Auntie Leonard), Dr. Angel's sister came with her three children, Lois, Isol and Leo, from Nebraska to care for the small Angel children.
They lived in what is now known as the Tibio house. James graduated from M.H.S. He married and lives in Chamblee, Georgia, and they have one son, Michael. Verda graduated from M.H.S. and took nurses training at McKennan and became an army nurse. She married Dr. Keith Arney and lives in San Antonio, Texas.
Dr. Angel married Gretta Guider in 1920. She taught school in the Montrose area. Dr. Angel was a very ardent Montrose booster in business, school, sports, and the first swimming pool.
Dr. Angel was killed instantly in an automobile accident march 19, 1930 when going to a late night medical call, leaving the whole Montrose community in total shock.
