Henry Sherman Certain, 95, a retired farmer, died at 1: 30 A. M. (September 19, 1960)at his home in Fairmount. He had been seriously ill four hours.

Born July 14, 1865 in Stockton, Ohio, he was the son of Henry and Electa Wood Certain. He came to Illinois by covered wagon with his family when he was 15 years old. He was married April 2, 1891 to Katie Murray, who preceded him in death in 1943. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen Lodge.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Pauline Lewis of Pasadena, Calif., Mrs Nola Perkins of Chicago, Mrs. Leota Parrish, Mrs. Wintress Bennett, and Mrs Louise Cast, all of Fairmount; a son, Dwight Certain at home; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, five brothers, and three sisters.

Services will be at 2:30 P. M. Wednesday at the Fairmount Baptist Church.. The Rev. F. S. Mercer will officiate, with burial in Davis Cemetery. The body is at the family residence where friends will be received. The Carrington Funeral Home, Fairmount is in charge.
