Born March 13, 1917 to Andres Romero and Adelina Chavez.
Raised in La Jara, CO. He left school in the fifth grade to help on the ranch. Dad learned the meaning of hard work at an early age. He joined the Conservation Corps at the age of seventeen. Dad married our mother, Carmelita Ruybal, on October 22, 1940 in Alamosa, CO. Together they raised 3 children and remained together for fifty-one years until her death on July 1, 1991. Dad took care of Mom in her years of declining health.
He worked in the mining industry and retired from the Salt Lake County Highway Department. Having contracted cancer from uranium exposure in the 1950's, he spent the last years of his life battling many health issues. But he never lost his sense of humor and teasing ways. Dad's remaining years were in the loving care of his son, Michael. He enjoyed fishing, silversmithing, and being a snowbird with Mom. They enjoyed many travels in their motor home.
Survived by son, Michael Romero, CO; daughters, Vivian Williams, Germany, Georginna (Candido) Ramirez, UT; grandson, Cory Wiseman; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Bailey, and Jackson Wiseman; brother, Edward Vigil; sisters, Cecilila Pollock, and Del Marie Bustos, UT.
