The son of Elias Scott and Elva June Moore, Morris married Retha Colleen Marion in 1940. They lived in St. Louis County, Missouri with her parents, and he worked as a nurseryman. He then obtained a job with the WPA.

Morris and Retha were the parents of 2 children. They lived with her parents in 1950, and it should be noted that neither was mentioned in Morris' obituary.

After his first marriage ended, Morris then married Betty Lou Hartupee on 02 Mar 1946 in Overland, St. Louis County, Missouri. His former wife also remarried that same year.

Morris and Betty were the parents of 4 children.

At the time of his death, Morris was 60 years, 6 months and 2 days old.

He was survived by his wife, Betty; 1 daughter; 3 sons; his grandchildren; 1 sister, Doris Coyle; 1 brother, Glen Scott; his step-mother-in-law, Stella Hartupee; and many extended family members.

In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by 1 sister, Theresa Viehman; and 4 brothers, Earl Scott, Frank Scott, Barney Scott and George Scott.

Visitation was held on 03 May 1980 at Baumann's Colonial Chapel on Woodson Road in Overland. Funeral services were conducted there at 2 p.m. the following afternoon.

Morris' wife, Betty, passed away in 2004 and was buried next to him.
